Underground Water Storage
Dr. Jeremiah Cameron Park & Westport Stormwater Improvements Project
As part of the $25M stormwater infrastructure investment for Kansas City’s Westport District, Dr. Jeremiah Cameron Park is playing a critical role in stormwater management as the final water storage point to manage discharge before reentering the existing combined sewer system.
The Westport Stormwater Improvements project will:
Add over 3.5 million gallons of underground stormwater storage.
Change the land’s shape to make more space and easier access to Westport.
Build a pedestrian path from 43rd Street to Mill Street through the park.
Plant new native trees.
Identify dedicated space for future park improvements that are not included in the current funding.
